The Groom Can Wear A LIttle Makeup Too! | Mens Grooming

Makeup is not just for the bride and her bridal party anymore, men you can look polished too with a little grooming!
I know what you are thinking, why would I need makeup? I’m a guy.  Well believe it or not men are showing more interest in their appearance and look.  Your wedding day is a big deal! And men want to look just as fabulous in their photos as much as the bride does.  Certainly men you wouldn’t wear half of the amount of makeup that the bride and bridal party would wear, after all we are not aiming for the drag queen look we simple just want you to look a little more fresh.
Here are a few techniques I use when working with the groom and his grooms men to give them a more polished and completed look.

1) Complexion Perfection
Just like women men and can get a little self-conscious when dealing with blemishes, breakouts and little imperfections that get under our skin.  To tackle this issue I like to use a tinted moisturizer. A tinted moisturizer is lightweight, sheer and provides just the right about of coverage to even out the skin tone without looking heavy, cakey and unnatural.  It also adds moisture to the skin and provides sun protection, your left with healthy looking skin.  If more coverage is needed, I will then go in with a concealer and spot correct areas that need special attention, especially if you want to get rid of redness.
 2) Shine No More
We all fear looking to oily/shiny in our photos and that is why I recommend using a translucent blotting powder.  This is a lightweight colorless product that can be applied to any skin tone; great for reducing shine, controlling oil and giving your skin a more soft, even look with a slight matte finish.
3)  Show Me Those Beautiful Eyes
Yes men you can show off your gorgeous eyes too by adding a little definition with mascara.  Mascara really opens up the eyes by framing them and making them pop; I like to use brown mascara on men for a more natural less obvious look.  If you are not comfortable with colored mascara, you can use clear mascara which will add a little sheen and lift.
4)  No Unibrow Here
We all know eyebrows frame the face but there is no need to walk around with a bush on your foreheads.  Get those puppies into shape with a little trimming & tweezing; yes plucking is a little painful but who says beauty is without pain, just ask your bride. If your brows are sparse or you would like to cover some greys, you can easily do so with a tinted brow gel which will add some color and set your brows in place.  You can also use a clear brow gel or wax stick to slick your brows down and keep them shaped and in place all day.  The same steps apply for you men that like to rock a beard or mustache, get it trimmed, shaped and groomed.
5) Kissable Lips
Ah nothing spoils the moment like dry, chapped lips when it comes time to kissing the bride.  Yes men your lips matter so take care of them; if you suffer from dryness and chapped lips use a lip scrub a couple days before your wedding to get rid of the dead skin. Here is a simple do it yourself technique to get rid of the chaps. Use a medium to hard toothbrush, wet it and then dip it into some sugar and begin to scrub your lips side to side to reveal fresh smooth baby soft lips.  Once you get rid of the dead skin you want to keep your lips conditioned and moisturized with a lip balm.
6) Hair Control
Yes I am sure you men will stop by the barbers to get your hair cut and styled but did you know you should have the necessary tools to touch it up.  Most of the time the groom comes prepared with perfectly styled and freshly cut hair, however, there are times when the hair may look to greasy, too dull, too flat, out of place, etc. and that’s where I come in with the necessary tools to combat those issues before pictures and walking down the aisle.
So as you can see men, there are steps you can take to look a little more polished and put together.  To inquire about grooming services for your wedding, contact Nicole at info@nicolewmakeup.com
